Show-Me Mustang Club Tid-bits

100th Birthday100th Birthday Celebration
We celebrated my grandmothers 100th birthday on Sunday, June 7th. My father
brought my grandmother to my house and she and I drove to church in her '67
Mustang with the top down and the radio on! Granted her hair was done perfectly
and she didn't want to take too long of a trip so that the wind might mess her hair up
too much for the day she had ahead of her, but once we started out.. she was a real
trooper! We cruised down Manchester Road to church this morning, on a happy day
we won't soon forget. Birthday Blessings from the Show-Me Mustang Club

SMMC member, Craig Anderson, received an email via our club website from Ira Myrick, a soldier getting ready to be deployed to Iraq. As many of you know, Craig’s story of how his grandfather won the ’67 convertible for $1 is great and we are so proud to share that story. Ira is the proud owner of a 1967 Fastback that he is anxious to restore. Ira is now deployed and has actively been serving RECON missions. He is in the 1st of the 184th Infantry Battalion. His battalion is attached to the 29th Infantry Brigade, headquartered in Hawaii. Several SMMC members do regular email visits with Ira while he is deployed and also with his wife, Janell, babysitting the Mustang in California. Our president, Rich Johnston, has sponsored a club membership for the Myrick’s and newsletter editor, Mike James, makes sure copies of our monthly newsletter get to both Ira and Janell. Recently the club passed the hat and was able to purchase much needed Oakley sunglasses that offer the highest eye protection and sent those to Ira. Some of the new club merchandise has also been sent his way so he feels connected to the Mustang world and a club that truly supports and appreciates what he is doing for our Country. The SMMC antenna flag looks great on top of a Humvee, but we all can’t wait to see it on the antenna of Ira’s ’67 Fastback.
